October 2017 | Just Luxe
Don’t you just love the feel of silk on your skin? Or how about a lazy afternoon sipping a glass of red, not just any red mind you, a glass of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. And how about that Cartier bracelet you just can’t wait to show off to your friends. Ahh! How a girl can dream! Luxury comes in all different forms and depending on how you define it, it means different things to different people. For many, time is becoming a luxury. Time to do nothing or time to do everything.
We explore various elements of luxury this month, Zira looks at the various foods that have been given cult status, either because of their rarity or their price (Pg.14) and we spend some time chatting with a man whose name has become synonomous with all things ‘luxe’. Gavin Rajah is a man with so many great achievements and he’s done it all with such style and flair and always with purpose, check it out on (Pg.18) Everybody enjoys a bit of luxuriant indulgence now and again but our Friend in Fashion has some great ways to add a little luxury to your wardrobe, everyday (pg.34) and with the holidays just around the corner you’d best be sure that your skin gets the same luxury treatment (Pg.38)
We ease into warmer climes as we go Top Class (pg.44) as Shaina ventures into the bush for a bit of decadent pampering and then moves on to butler service and a private chef in Knysna, luxury right on our doorsteps. And yes travel is exciting and adventurous but we have a few tips and tricks to give your vacation just a little more magic (Pg.54)
New York has got to be right up there with my top ten favourite cities in the world and the Loews Regency Hotel in Midtown Manhattan is just one of the reasons why (Pg. 58) Hotel Lungarno in Florence, Italy is so breathtakingly beautiful (Pg.60) but what did it for me was the exquisitely indulgent culinary brilliance of Peter Brunel, Chef at the Borgo San Jacopo restaurant at the hotel (Pg.62) Our wine story this month is, Grenache (Pg.72) as Ndumiso explores its beginnings in Sardinia and it’s travels to South Africa.
Ever the petrol-head, Malusi gets up close and personal with the King of Saloons, (Pg.93) The Rolls Royce Phantom Series VIII. Our regular features Tech Know (Pg.90), Urban Legends of Luxury (Pg.16) and The Urban Closet (Pg.32) all have a little something to add that “Just Luxe” touch to just about anywhere.
Go on, indulge yourself and enjoy a journey into luxury living!
With love, light and blessings!! Aaliyah
