5th place, Saronsberg Shiraz 2013

Tasting note:

The wine has a deep, dark purple colour with succulent ripe fruit flavors, both dark and red are supported with scents of violets and delicate spice. The mouth-feel has depth and clarity of fruit with integrated oak flavours. Finely crafted tannins and a beautiful layered fruit infused  finish.

4th place, Klein Zalze Shiraz 2013 

Tasting Note:

 This wine shows prominent blackcurrant and mulberry flavors on the nose. On the palate the 2012 vintage reflects a wine with finesse, fruit and supported by well-integrated firm French oak tannins.

3rd place,Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2013

Tasting note:

The nose offers cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves with an abundance of dark plums and violets with hints of white pepper and dark chocolate. The attack on the palate is rich, generous and intense with the sweet spices and dark berry fruit following through. The wine is exceptionally smooth and bal­anced with perfectly integrated acidity and mouth-filling, svelte tannins adding to the fine structure. The finish is long with great fruit purity.

Words fail me when it comes to this big boy, simply because I don’t know where to begin when I talk about my appreciation on this wine. The style of wine making and the purity of the grape is really excellent.

2nd place, Hartenberg Stork 2013

Tasting note:

Decadent, almost ostentatious bouquet of macerated dark cherries, creme de cassis, plum and glycerin. …palate is full-bodied with silky smooth, seamless tannins and layers of luscious red fruits. For hedonists, this is the perfect Shiraz.

Ndumiso View’s On The Wine:

This wine can not be categorized with other Shiraz. This beauty is in a league of its own. Incredible, outstanding are the words that come to mind when I think of this magic in a bottle.

1st place, Bon Courage Inkara Shiraz 2014

Tasting note:

Complex amalgam of red berried fruit with soft tones of chocolate and espresso. Round and full mouth-feel showing mulberry, sweet spice and pepper with a silky texture and velvet character. Made to be enjoyed now or within 5 years.

Wine analysis:

  • Alcohol: 14.91 % Acidity [g/L]: 5.9 PH: 3.55 RS [g/L] : 3.9

My views on the wine:

Outstanding! Excellent! Incredible! Just some words that come to mind when describing the Bon Courage Inkara Shiraz 2014. My connection to this wine cannot be explained, it was just love at first taste.
