Food Truck Friday | 10 February 2017 | Nelson Mandela Bay
This event takes place on the third Friday of the month and was started back in November 2016. It is gaining in popularity and is set to make sure that Friday’s never look the same again.
A family-orientated event with free entry, delicious meals that don’t break the bank in a great setting, what more could one ask for. With great kids entertainment and live music the mood is pretty festive so don’t be surprised if you walk away with more than just your Friday dinner (maybe a henna tattoo or three) . Families, couple and friends bring along their blankets and picnic baskets and just enjoy chilling out in a great space. The event is community-driven and is organised by Jan du Plessis of WERK_ and Grant Foong of Foong’s Asian Street Food. Expect plenty of food trucks, tuk-tuks and trailers showing off their offerings. From artisanal pizza to Asian treats, there is a taste sensation to suit every palate.
The Music Run™ by Old Mutual
The Ultimate Music and Running festival took Johannesburg by storm at the Riversands Farm Village on Saturday 4 February 2017. The Music Run™, one of the fastest growing fun run events of its kind worldwide, empowers participants to control the soundtrack of the run by voting for their favourite songs in the build up to the event. Voting is via a ‘Music Voting App’ and songs with the most votes make the official run playlist. On event day, runners experience the world’s loudest 5K running course, known as ‘The Sound Track.’ Over 120 speakers pump out the most popular songs voted for by participants across 5 interactive and music themed zones – pop, rock, old school, hip hop and dance. The run will end with the ultimate after-run music festival, which includes world class DJs, live bands, dancers, laser lights, LED screens, chill out zones, giveaways and plenty more. Crowds were treated to an evening packed with entertainment, which featured live performances by The Muffinz and DJ Euphonik.
