East Coast Radio voted KZN’s Top Brand!

East Coast Radio voted KZN’s Top Brand!

If we could choose a song title to describe the mood here at East Coast Radio HQ in Umhlanga this morning, it would be Happy by Pharrell Williams! There are celebrations all around after East Coast Radio was voted KZN’s Top Brand at the Supertech Durban BMW KZN Top Business Awards last night.

East Coast Radio’s General Manager, Trish Taylor, says: “We are absolutely thrilled! What is significant about being KZN’s Top Brand is that it was voted for by the people of KZN and for that we are incredibly humbled and thankful.

The 8th annual KZN Top Business Awards showcase some of the province’s leading brands. The KZN Top Business website explains, “A large number of well-known brands have been grown and driven from within KZN and have made an indelible mark on consumer behaviour.”

Members of the public voted for the winners online over a three week period. The awards were presented at a glitzy event in Durban last night (26 August).

East Coast Radio was also voted the winner in the Social and Community Services category. This is in recognition of the contributions the station has made to uplifting communities across KZN through its various CSI initiatives, including Toy Story. Taylor says, “Part of our role as KZN’s number one radio station is to make sure that we are constantly serving the needs of our listeners and playing an active role in the economic development of KZN as a region. I think that our partnerships with local government are absolutely critical in making sure that we have the best province in the country.

These awards are the latest in a string of accolades the station has received over the past year, including two honours at the 2014 MTN Radio Awards. The station won a prestigious ‘Mayoral Ambassadorial Award’ in 2013 presented by the Mayor of Durban – for its significant contribution to the City of Durban.
